The Fault In Our Stars

The Fault In Our Stars

I have recently read 'The Fault In Our Stars' and can fairly say its one of my favourite books EVER!!! This was the first John Green book I have read and would recommend it to anyone (teens and adults) that enjoy witty humour and heart breaking events as I can guarantee you will laugh and cry throughout this fantastic novel. It is a story about 16 year old girl, Hazel Grace who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and therefor attends a support group. She is extremely reluctant to go although her feelings soon change when she meets the handsome Augustus Walters.  Augustus (Gus)  has had osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, but has recently had the all clear.  Together they embark on a journey that will consist of love, romance, tears and heartbreaks. They help pick up the pieces of each others broken worlds whilst hunting down Hazel's favourite author Peter Van Houten in Amsterdam. And although Amsterdam sets the perfect scene for hazels and Gus's romance, terrible news causes there lives to fall apart around them. I don't want to give too much away but I would highly recommend it and hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

After falling in love with this incredible novel  I was extremely excited to hear it was being transformed into a film! they have cast the extremely talented and beautiful Shailene Woodley to play Hazel who has starred in 'The Spectacular Now' 'Descendants' and the upcoming trilogy 'Divergent'. A newer face to our screens Ansel Elgort has been cast as Augustus Walters. At first I expected Josh Boone (the director) to cast a well known 'teen heartthrob' e.g zac Efron, Jeremy Irvine. But maybe that's why he's perfect for the role. There's no denying that he is handsome but it will give the audience a chance to fall in love with the character first before the actor, and people wont go to see the film because of the 'sexy' cast but the phenomenal story. One of the main reasons I enjoyed this story much was the characters and dialect. Gus's witty remarks and confident, loveable character compensates for Hazels slightly shy personality. So I hope all of their quirks are portrayed just as well on screen as they are on paper.
